The Communication Garden: Celebrating Every Step Forward

Walk into our clinic this May and you’ll find something blooming…our Communication Garden, a growing wall of patient reflections, goals, and wins that celebrates the journey of communication growth for patients of all ages.

Inspired by the theme “Let Communication Grow,” this project invites everyone, from toddlers to adults, to share what they’re working on in therapy.

The Communication Garden is more than just a wall of art, it’s a reminder that communication is a process, and every effort matters and deserves to be seen and celebrated.

This activity also helps build meta-awareness in our patients. For children, reflecting on their goals in this way encourages ownership and self-advocacy. For teens and adults, it provides a moment to pause and acknowledge how far they’ve come. And for families, it’s a visual affirmation that speech and hearing therapy is about more than checklists and completion, it’s about growth, connection, and communication that blooms over time.

If you’re visiting the clinic this month, we encourage you to take a moment to explore the garden. And if you’d like to add your own flower, whether you’re a patient, parent, or partner, we’d love to hear what you’re growing this spring. Because when we celebrate every step forward, we create a culture where communication can truly thrive.
