Meet Our Summer Interns: Ethan and Mackenzie!

At Sound Speech & Hearing Clinic, summer means sunshine, fresh energy…and the arrival of our incredible summer interns! This year, we’re thrilled to welcome Ethan and Mackenzie, two outstanding future clinicians who bring curiosity, compassion, and a deep interest in communication sciences to our practice.

🎶 Meet Ethan

Ethan is currently completing his final semester at Oberlin College, where he’s double majoring in Comparative Literature (with a focus on Spanish, French, and translation studies) and Musical Studies (with formal training in classical voice). With a unique background that blends language, culture, and vocal performance, Ethan is now exploring a career in speech-language pathology.

This summer, you’ll find him at our front desk, learning the inner workings of a multidisciplinary clinic and connecting with patients and families. His passion for language and voice makes him a natural fit for our team, and we’re so excited to support him as he considers the next step in his academic and professional journey.

🩺 Meet Mackenzie

Mackenzie joins us as a graduate student clinician from the University of Washington, where she’s completing her final clinical internship as part of the Medical Speech-Language Pathology program.

Mackenzie was drawn to our clinic’s interdisciplinary approach to aural rehabilitation and speech-language treatment across the lifespan. Prior to attending the University of Washington, Mackenzie attended San Diego State University where she conducted audiology research that deepened her interest in hearing loss and rehabilitation. Since entering her graduate program, she’s gained hands-on experience in pediatric and adult evaluations, voice therapy, and treatment for a wide range of communication disorders.

Her passion for evidence-based care, interest in collaborative private practice settings, and thoughtful clinical presence make her a fantastic addition to our summer team. We’re honored to support her continued growth.

We’re so lucky to have Ethan and Mackenzie with us this summer and can’t wait to see all they’ll accomplish. If you see them around the clinic, be sure to say hello, they’re already making Sound a more vibrant, dynamic place!
